The
place where the castle was settled, was in the first
place an Iberian settlement, then a roman fortress
and later a Moslem fortress. The last ones were
enemies of the christian King Sancho the Third,
who decided that the castle were built in the XI
century, so its territory enlarged to the next village
of Bolea.
The village of Loarre was born
when its castle lost defensive importance in the
XVI century and its population went down to the
plane in order to settle. For that purpose, the
stones comes coming from the castle were used. Its
probably that the Hostelry were built with the same
stones.
The Hostelry is located in an
old little palace of the XVI, fully improved so
that its facilities can be enjoined. Its architecture
combines three differents styles, aragones renaissance,
baroque and neo-classical.
It was used like a City Hall,
school and teacher`s house for many years. |
